Donate Fishing Tackle — Help a Child Catch Their First Fish
New or used — most tackle in reasonable condition is welcome
Collection or drop-off can often be arranged
Older or incomplete items can be repaired or reused
Clubs, fisheries and tackle shops welcome too
Every year, tackle sits unused in garages, sheds and lofts across Somerset — while young people who'd love to fish simply don't have the equipment to start. Your donation bridges that gap and keeps good gear out of landfill.
Donate Your TackleYour Old Gear Is Someone's First Rod
Summerhayes Juniors is run entirely by volunteers and provides free fishing opportunities for children across Somerset. Much of the equipment we coach with was generously donated by anglers, clubs and supporters. Every donated item is carefully inspected by our volunteers, then used in coaching sessions, loaned to juniors without their own gear, or kept as spares — so cost is never the reason a child can't fish.

Donating Tackle, Answered
What we accept, how donations are used, and how to arrange collection or drop-off.
Most tackle and equipment: rods, reels, poles, whips, landing nets, keepnets, seat boxes, tackle boxes, unhooking mats, rod rests, floats, feeders, bait boxes, umbrellas, shelters and general accessories.
No — we happily accept new and used tackle. As long as it's in reasonable, safe condition, there's a good chance we can put it to use in our coaching programme.
Yes — even older, damaged or incomplete items may be useful. Some can be repaired, used for spares or adapted for coaching. If you're unsure, get in touch before disposing of anything.
Donated tackle is used in our free coaching sessions, loaned to young anglers without their own equipment, or kept as spares so we can support more children across Somerset.
Absolutely. We regularly work with angling clubs, fisheries, tackle shops and local businesses — larger donations make a huge difference.
In many cases, yes. Depending on your location and the size of the donation, we may be able to arrange collection or a convenient drop-off point.
Our coaching is completely free, and donated equipment means children who don't have their own gear can still take part — cost is never a barrier to participation.
Fill in the form above with what you'd like to donate, and a member of our team will be in touch to arrange collection or drop-off.
