Your unwanted equipment could help create a young angler's first fishing experience.
Every year, countless items of fishing tackle sit unused in garages, sheds, lofts, and cupboards across Somerset. At the same time, many young people would love the opportunity to learn to fish but simply don't have access to the equipment needed to get started. By donating your unwanted fishing tackle to Summerhayes Juniors, you can help introduce more children to angling while giving your equipment a new purpose.

Give Your Fishing Tackle a Second Life
At Summerhayes Juniors, we believe that every child should have the opportunity to experience fishing regardless of their background or financial circumstances. That's why all of our coaching sessions are completely free, with tackle and equipment provided wherever possible. Much of the equipment we use has been generously donated by anglers, clubs, and supporters who want to help the next generation discover our sport. We welcome donations of new and used fishing tackle in reasonable condition. Our volunteers carefully inspect donated items before they are used during coaching sessions or passed on to young anglers who need equipment of their own.-
We welcome most fishing tackle and equipment including rods, reels, poles, whips, landing nets, keepnets, seat boxes, tackle boxes, unhooking mats, rod rests, floats, feeders, bait boxes, umbrellas, shelters, and general fishing accessories.
-
No. We are happy to accept both new and used tackle. As long as the equipment is in a reasonable and safe condition, there is a good chance we can put it to use within our coaching programme.
-
Yes. Even older, damaged, or incomplete items may still be useful. Some equipment can be repaired, used for spare parts, or adapted for coaching purposes. If you're unsure, please get in touch before disposing of it.
-
Donated tackle is used during our free coaching sessions, loaned to young anglers who do not have their own equipment, or kept as spare equipment to help us support more children across Somerset.
-
Absolutely. We regularly work with angling clubs, fisheries, tackle shops, and local businesses. Larger donations can make a huge difference to the number of young people we are able to support.
-
In many cases, yes. Depending on your location and the size of the donation, we may be able to arrange collection. Alternatively, we can organise a convenient drop-off point.
-
Our coaching sessions are completely free for young people. Donations help us provide equipment to children who may not otherwise have access to fishing, ensuring cost is never a barrier to participation.
-
Simply contact us using the form aboce and let us know what equipment you would like to donate. A member of our team will be in touch to discuss collection or drop-off options.
