Researching a fishing venue

Finding somewhere new to fish?

As an angler we are sure you are aware fishing is not cheap, by the time you have purchased replacement items from your last trip, bait & fuel some sessions can cost anywhere from £3.50 – £50.00+

This is why I find it crazy when im approached by other anglers that have start fishing for the day with questions like:
What bait do you use here?
How does this place fish?

In this guide we will give you the basics of how to find your new dream fishing venue or how to make the most out of an existing venue you currently fish.

Talk to your local tackle shop!

For me personally there is no place better to start researching a fishing venue than your local tackle shop, they see anglers in there every day and often spend there time building a repour with the regulars and this includes getting all the inside information on how venues are fishing, what bait is being used and what methods they are using.

Research Youtube Video's!

With YouTube being so readily available to even the most technophobe it means more videos that ever are being uploaded, searching YouTube for the venues name will often pop up a fair few results you can then sit back and watch the ones most relevant to you.

Find Blog Guides on Google.

Using the popular search engine google will often pop up some results for the fishing venue you are wishing to visit with the possibility bloggers & vloggers posting about them along with some of the more popular fishing magazines doing the same.

Facebook can be your friend!

Facebook is filled with groups like Fishing In Taunton, Taunton Angling Association, Bridgwater Angling Forum & Southwest Sea Fishing are just a few to mention these will groups will allow you to read other members catch reports and adventures along with post to ask other anglers where is fishing well at the moment.

How to find a new fishing venue?

The simplest response to this question is all of the above, Talking to your local fishing tackle shops they will inform you of all venues that are currently fishing very well.

Google “Fishing Venues Near Me” will also provide you with a list of results that you can then find a venue that suits your requirements.

Check your favourited YouTube channels and see where they are fishing, sometimes it maybe close and it will also give you some of the tactics at the same time.

Check your favourited Facebook groups to see where others are fishing.

Conclusion

In conclusion local knowledge is key into fishing correctly at a new venue or finding a new venue to fish. If your research is done correctly it can save you money by driving to a venue that is fishing poorly or buying bait that is currently not working at the fishery or natural venue.
