I have been fishing since I was four years old. Some of my earliest memories are of fishing at the back of French Weir with my uncle and grandad, using a float rod to catch trout. From that point on, I was completely hooked. As soon as I was old enough to go fishing independently, I spent almost every spare moment on the bank. I would fish before school, after school, at weekends and throughout the holidays. Angling quickly became far more than a hobby to me; it became a huge part of my life. Over the years, I have experienced almost every type of angling, from coarse and match fishing to fly fishing and boat fishing at sea. This has given me a broad understanding of different methods, tackle, species and fishing environments. However, these days, I get far more enjoyment from teaching others than I do from catching fish myself. For me, coaching is about much more than simply showing someone how to cast or set up a rig. It is about building confidence, encouraging curiosity and helping people understand why they are doing something. I enjoy adapting sessions to suit each individual, whether they are complete beginners, young anglers developing their skills or experienced anglers wanting to improve a particular technique. There is no better feeling than watching someone catch their first fish, master a new method or grow in confidence during a session. My aim is always to create a relaxed, welcoming and enjoyable environment where people feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and learning at their own pace. I am a qualified Level 2 angling coach and have spent many years working with children, families, schools, community organisations and other anglers. Through Summerhayes Juniors Angling Club, I have helped introduce hundreds of young people to angling while ensuring that financial circumstances are never a barrier to taking part. Angling has given me a lifetime of memories, friendships and opportunities. I now want to pass that experience on and help other people discover everything the sport has to offer. Whether you want to catch your first fish, improve your confidence or develop your skills in a particular method, I will tailor the session around you and help make it an enjoyable and rewarding experience. All money raised through my coaching sessions is donated back to Summerhayes Juniors Angling Club, helping us continue providing free coaching, tackle and opportunities for young anglers.
