Working with SASP to Introduce Young Anglers to Fishing

This year, we are proud to partner with SASP (Somerset Activity & Sports Partnership) to deliver a series of six coaching sessions, introducing 120 children to the exciting world of fishing. Our goal is to give young participants the opportunity to experience angling, learn fundamental skills, and discover if it's a sport they might enjoy.

Through these sessions, we will focus on:
 ✔ Basic fishing techniques – Teaching children how to cast, handle tackle, and land fish safely.
✔ Understanding nature & water safety – Encouraging respect for the environment while ensuring they feel confident around water.
✔ Fish handling & conservation – Educating young anglers on responsible fishing practices.
✔ Making fishing fun & accessible – Creating a relaxed, supportive atmosphere where children can enjoy their first angling experience.

With SASP’s commitment to increasing participation in sports, this initiative will not only introduce more children to fishing but also promote the benefits of outdoor activity, patience, and skill development.

We are excited to work with SASP on this fantastic project and hope that, by the end of the program, many of these young anglers will have developed a lifelong passion for fishing!
