Summerhayes Juniors delivers structured, supportive junior angling coaching sessions at The Sedges Fishery, one of Somerset’s most versatile and junior-friendly coarse fishing venues. With multiple waters on site, The Sedges provides the perfect environment for young anglers to learn, progress, and gain confidence through real fishing experiences.

Our coaching sessions are designed for juniors of all abilities, from complete beginners to developing anglers ready to refine their skills. Sessions take place across Tile Lake, Brick Lake, and the Sedges Canal, allowing coaches to tailor each session to the age, experience, and confidence level of the group.

Tile Lake is ideal for younger or newer anglers, offering regular bites and a calm setting where core skills such as pole fishing, feeding accuracy, and fish care can be introduced at a comfortable pace. Brick Lake provides an excellent next step, helping juniors develop improved float control, stronger fish handling skills, and a better understanding of stillwater fishing. The canal offers a more traditional and technical environment, perfect for teaching patience, precision, and watercraft.

All coaching is led by qualified Level 2 Angling Coaches and delivered in line with guidance from the Angling Trust, ensuring sessions are safe, inclusive, and fully supervised. Fish welfare, correct technique, and confidence building are always at the heart of our approach.

Parents and guardians are welcome and encouraged to stay, observe, and learn alongside their children. Our aim is not only to coach juniors, but also to help families gain the knowledge needed to fish safely and responsibly beyond organised sessions.

Whether a child is catching their first fish, learning to fish independently, or developing skills for future matches, The Sedges Fishery offers the variety, safety, and stock to support every stage of their angling journey.
