Summerhayes juniors participated in a match organised and hosted by Taunton Angling Association.

It was held on the Charlton canal and allowed them to put into practice some of the whip fishing they’ve been taught in recent weeks.

The aim was to catch as many of the bleak, roach and small skimmers possible. They started short on a 3.5m whip line with pinkies. The start of the match was very fast and everyone was catching quickly. As expected, the fish moved out during the day. Some of them moved to a 5m whip line, which produced fish…until the rain hit! Things slowed down, even for those choosing to fish at 13m with pole.

Rotating between the lines picked up the odd extra fish and a number of them managed to get on the leader board and pick up some of the excellent sponsored prizes. Well done to everyone that took part. A huge thank you must go out to the organisers and all those who supported the event. Great stuff!
