Finding fishing tackle for FREE!

Yes thats right, we said FREE

The vast majority of anglers are often very receptive to the Junior angling scene explaining on Facebook, Fishing Forums or Local tackle shops that your child would like to start fishing or Match fishing and they have no fishing tackle will often see the Seniors offer you some free of charge.

Their motivation behind this is simple they do not want to see the sport die off and just want to help the next generation, also over the years as senior anglers we seem to just collect tackle as new equipment comes out. Often our garages, shed’s and cupboard’s are full of old equipment we are never going to use again.

facebook-marketplace
Facebook Market Place.

Facebook market place in my eyes has quickly taken over sites like Gumtree, Freeads & ebay for finding previously owned items due to the fact listings are free, you can reach a wider audience on your area and often there is no need to post. There for the buyer feels safer.

When using facebook market place you can use their search facility to search for the item you are looking for in this example I have search for a Daiwa Feeder Rod Facebook has returned some results along with suggested results in my area like reels. Although I find the AI learning on Facebook market place not great it is still very useful.

One suggestion I would make for anyone new to purchasing online is do not part with your money until the item is in your hand because its free it does lend itself to scammers. So be cautious and collect from your local area.

If you find an item that you wish to purchase and you are unsure on how much they retail for google the item often this will bring back the year it was discontinued and RRP at the time.

membership
Memberships & Club Benefits

Often becoming a member of local fishing clubs will also entitle you to a discount at local tackle shop or with TAA Go Outdoors, ask in regards to the benefits of joining the club and if you get discount anywhere and if they do how much? While you are discussing this you can drop in a checky do you know anyone giving away some tackle for free ( The magic word that makes every parent happy.)

shopping
Check google!

Google has a section called Shopping if you are hard and fast on a item you want, you can search its shopping page for the cheapest place around that sells it, for this you search for your item and then click on shopping.

Obviously just because its listed on Google Shopping it does not always mean the site is safe, do your research a site to recommend would be trustpilot, they are independent and website owners can not remove poor reviews. My example below is searching for a website called fishdeal.co.uk as they have a set of 5 whips that looks like they would be great for my boy on his match fishing adventure’s along the canal.

and finally check the large websites.

Website likes Amazon & Ebay still exists for two reasons, Amazon has such massive buying power they have started buying their own items and selling them so can offer products sometimes much cheaper than else where. Also some of the major fishing tackle manufacturers have started selling themselves on Amazon and Ebay there for they are keeping all of the profit and are able to offer items cheaper.
